This accounts for about 90% of all AMD.  It is
due to the accumulation of waste products
from the light sensitive cells of the retina and
causes a gradual deterioration of central
vision.  There has been no effective means of
treating dry AMD until now- with the insertion
of two small
IOLVIP lenses the central vision
can be significantly improved.
You can reduce the risk of developing AMD by not smoking and improving your diet and eating
more vegetable rich in carotenoids such as spinach or peas. Some studies have shown that certain
nutritional supplements such as vitamin A, C and E together with beta-carotene, zinc and copper
may help. Talk to your doctor to make sure supplements are right for you.  For example, smokers
should not take beta-carotene supplements.
