We work solely with world-class ophthalmic surgeons at the top of their profession – highly experienced consultants who embrace technology for the benefits it brings you, the patient. They are widely respected in their field – and their advanced ideas and techniques help shape opinion across the ophthalmic profession.
As a new patient, you will always see a UK-qualified consultant at your first consultation. All on our team either hold, or have held, a permanent UK National Health Service (NHS) consultancy post. This means an exceptional depth of skill and knowledge reflecting the range and volume of patients and conditions our specialists have treated. Your consultant will explain your diagnosis and treatment options openly and in full – always using non-technical language where possible.
All London Eye Hospital surgeons are:
- UK-trained and hold Fellowships with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth.) or the Royal College of Surgeons in Ophthalmology FRCS (Ophth.).
- On the General Medical Council Specialist Register for Ophthalmic Surgery.
- Trained at Fellowship level – for example in corneal surgery or refractive surgeryor both.
- Either in, or formerly in, a permanent NHS post.
The best specialist nurses
Whatever your investigation, treatment or follow-up involves, our world-class surgical care is supported by excellent nursing support.
Our specialist ophthalmic nurses are all trained in specific areas of ophthalmology rather than general nursing. We ensure that all our nurses participate in continuous professional development in their chosen area of speciality with both internal and external training. Many of the procedures available at the London Eye Hospital are unique and we therefore devote significant investment to training our nurses in these specialist areas. We aim to provide the best possible service to patients and believe this is best achieved through having a dedicated staff passionately devoted to clinical excellence and patient care.
